Project: 300,000 s.f. Prototype Assembly renovation and new 140,000 s.f. office building

Description: LaSalle was awarded the contract to completely renovate the existing 300,000 s.f. GSB1 Building and construct a new 140,000 s.f. Connecting Link Building on the South Campus of The General Motors Tech Center in Warren, Michigan. With labor shortages at an all time high, this $36 million fast tracked project was completed and operational in 7.5 months. In addition to the 140,000 s.f. of office space, this facility includes a simulation assembly plant which will allow GM to execute design changes more efficiently, thereby reducing the time required to bring new products to market. Other features of the facility include Coordinate Measurements Machines for checking body part tolerances, testing and validation, as well as testing for future vehicle components. The plant will also be utilized for the assembly of prototype vehicles.
